As a trailblazing student-athlete, she made history as Goshen's first female to earn letters in all three sports - Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball. Her exceptional athletic prowess was evident even in middle school, when she was invited to play on the varsity team, demonstrating her commitment by walking to and from every practice.
Marilyn's dedication to Goshen extends far beyond her athletic achievements. For over six decades, she has been an active force in community service and leadership. As a 62-year member of the Goshen Garden Club, she continues to organize their annual plant sale, helping to beautify the community she loves. Her faithful service to the Goshen United Methodist Church spans 60 years, where her volunteer work has touched countless lives.
A breast cancer survivor of 24 years, Marilyn's strength and resilience inspire all who know her. Her legacy lives on through her four children, all Goshen High School graduates, nine grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren - three of whom currently attend Goshen Schools, continuing a proud family tradition.
Marilyn's influence reaches across generations, from her early days as a student alongside her late husband, Jerry Turner, in their close-knit graduating class of 28, to her current role as a beloved matriarch and community elder. Her unwavering commitment to Goshen, demonstrated through decades of service and leadership, makes her an outstanding example of the impact one person can have on their hometown.
